'Dover Patrol' is one of the classic
early strategy board games. Originally produced in the 1930's, it remains
popular to this day - although sadly it is no longer in production.
The copy we have for sale (pictured here) dates from the early 1960's, and
is original, complete and in excellent condition.
The game is a slightly more complex
version of 'L'attaque', with the objective being to capture your opponent's
flagship, using the variety of pieces at your disposal. The pieces have
differing strength values and capabilities, and key decisions have to be
taken on where to deploy them, and when to attack with them. In your 'navy'
you have battleships, cruisers, destroyers, motor torpedo boats, patrol
vessels, submarines, minesweepers, mines, and even a flying boat! No dice
are involved - to win the game you will need to outwit and out think your
opponent.
